About 12designer
Frequently asked questions
What is 12designer?
12designer is a platform for creative contests to be run. 12designer helps bring together clients and creatives from around the world. 12designer will allow you access to a huge community of creatives. So whatever you want created, post your creative brief and challenge the creatives for a piece of work!
How does 12designer work?
Clients post a creative design project to a community of creatives. The creatives then create designs to meet the project brief, competing for a cash prize set by the client. After providing feedback to help creatives improve on their designs, the client picks a winner and the winning creative is paid.
Who are the competing creatives?
Anyone who has registered with 12designer can compete in 12designer. There are no restrictions on registration. For 12designer the competition, not a diploma, decides success or failure.
How much does it cost?
The registration and use of 12designer is free for client and creative.
A 12basic project can be created for 12 €. Up to 12 creatives can be part of it: a small team for small budgets. Unfortunately there's no guarantee possible. If you realize that you need more creatives and you would like to give a guarantee, you can always upgrade your project to 12plus.
To reach all our creatives, start a 12plus project for just 32 €. With 1-to-1 customer service support, professional feedback through our Design Jury if needed, you'll motivate your team even more, and you always can guarantee a purchase.
In a 12plus and 12premium project you also have the Private option. With this option only registered users that have taken the non-disclosure agreement may see information regarding your project, which will be secured from search engines. For an extra fee you can choose this option and control your project's visibility (if creatives see all proposals or just their own).
A 12premium project is a special kind of project that only allows participation from the most experienced creatives in the platform. This type of project ensures quality and a manoeuverable amount of top-proposals: therefore minimum prizes have to be at least doubled when publishing with this kind of project. This costs 72 €.
Please note that regarding fees, a net price is always stated. Generally, VAT tax will only be applied to German clients, as 12designer has its headquarters in Germany: international clients will not be subject to VAT tax. Invoices will be sent by e-mail after creating the project.
What kind of creative tasks can I post here?
Design for everyone, designs for everything. From a logo, a business card, notepaper, to even websites, illustrations, flyers and posters: basically, you can let 12designer design everything that creatives can create and want to create. No borders are drawn here: even if you need texts (naming, claims, slogans) or multimedia work (sound, presentations), you'll be at the right place. Let your imagination run free!
How much should the project prize money be?
There is no fixed rule: it can vary between 100 and 10000€! But you should carefully consider choosing a prize amount that makes your project attractive to creatives. The higher the prize, the more appealing your project will be and the more motivated the creatives will come to it. The following guide offers you a rough estimate for the project prize money amount:

What kind of quality can I expect?
Why don´t you test the quality of our creative community? Without any obligation to purchase a design and being our platform free to use, there is no risk for you to give us a go! You also affect the quality of the submissions: with a good brief that should be as exact as it can be. With you being actively giving feedback. By increasing the length of the project run-time and by guaranteeing an appropriate prize.
How are the property rights handled?
Creatives must agree to upload wholly original designs and, thus, they own the property rights to their own submissions. The creatives may make adjustments to their design in accordance to feedback from the client, the creative will, however, still hold all property rights to these designs. If the client selects a design and pays the agreed project prize money, then they will receive the property rights of the selected design. This handover process is strictly between client and creative.
When are the property rights transferred?
creatives own the property rights on their designs until the complete payment of the project prize money from the client. However, the final design can be handed over before if required. The creatives can be secure that they still own the property rights until payment is made.
What is Netiquette?
Generally, we mean always to respect Netiquette terms in every online communication that goes through our platform. Good manners, consctructive criticism, respect for others' work, will always be values that never go out of fashion. Please allow yourself some time to read out Netiquette rules.
