A nice project, good music, and a too quick E-Mail

Head of poetAt 12designer, offers and design proposals come together in a common place. That means, we offer an online platform for designers and clients, that helps them resolving design issues and projects. Clear until now? Clear.

There are some projects that bring to our platform a bit more of colour: those that step outside the margins. A design for the walls of the Hamburger S-Bahn Train Service, decoration for camping plates or the design of a T-Shirt for supporters of a NGO:  those projects make a difference in our day-by-day, and, when properly done, give us a bit of charm in our clients list.

That’s why we’ve welcomed Monty and his representated artist DONOVAN, when they both choose 12designer to start a design project...

No, Donovan is no friend of ours (yet), and of course he’s not related to anyone in the 12designer Team; he just made unforgettable music during the last decades, and therefore, collected a huge number of fans around the world.
Therefore, we planned this logo project as a fan project, as an exception, and that’s why the client has accordingly setted the prize: specially for people that love Donovan’s music.

Two return flights inside Europe and two VIP tickets to Donovan’s concert in Munich - worth alltogether 1000€. Knowing the artist included! Notice: For those who may not be able to travel (call it distance reasons or date reasons), we offer a 500€ compensation prize.

In special projects, that are a bit outside of the normal project path, little issues are a regular thing. As we don’t have yet any „Special“ category, this project was placed into „logo“. As long as our platform does not accept any material prizes but money (and so will it be in the future), project was completed with a prize that the client stated as a value for the tickets and the flights. We couldn’t do it technically in a different way, and as long as this is an exception, please bear in mind that notifying E-Mails will show a monetary prize.

Sorry for the mistake and the confusion! The project has been clarified, and now is the moment for good music and good design for a good musician. Become a fan and make your logo proposal!

Discussion

Also: if you think it distracts from the topic, you can remove the following part from my last comment in the competition thread if you want:

" – so that potential participants can have some idea what the so-called "VIP pass" and the so-called "catering" that staff have made such a big deal about will actually look like.

Or do these things even exist, outside the imagination of 12designer staff? They're not mentioned in the project description at all. "

(so that what remains is simply the question about which venue it is, and that it might be interesting to know for a fan)

Now that participants can choose between getting paid and this VIP pass business, it's not all that relevant anymore whether or not the latter is actually worth anything, so it doesn't need to be taken apart in the comments.

Thank you for the clarification!

For a designer, it looks rather strange when on a site about paid work there is suddenly a pure promo gig posted … that starts with a blatant lie, no less. We have no way of knowing what's going on – is it approved by the site, is it just a single staff member backing it up, did it somehow slip through? And when project posts are modified after they go live, with no comment or explanation, we also can't tell whether the same thing isn't going to happen with the next thing we're working on – someone at 12d declares that nail studio "special" and the reward is changed to a free manicure .. that someone at 12d decides is "worth at least 500EUR".

Anyhow, it seems to be all good now; I don't mean to keep discussing, just wanted to also post a bit of clarification – I do realise my comments were quite snarky. I wasn't upset about the competition *per se*, but with how it was handled.
